Summer has finally arrived…June 21st making it official. If you live in L.A., Summer has been here for a while. We’re always on the look out for a refreshing, cooling drink to help make summer more enjoyable. It’s also nice to create a drink that can work both as a non-alcoholic beverage or more spirited libation. And nothing says Summer quite like Watermelon. Even in Los Angeles, Watermelon is truly a Summer fruit. Because we like a watermelon with a little twist, we added some lime and fresh mint to this refreshing drink. So sit down on your back patio or balcony and enjoy!
Watermelon Mixer
Ingredients
½ seedless watermelon
Handful of mint, 8 to 10 leaves
Juice of one lime
Sparkling water
Vodka/Gin
Scoop out the Watermelon from the rind and put in blender along with the mint and lime juice. Blend until smooth.
For an alcohol-free version, pour 6 to 8 oz. cup with half of watermelon mix and ½ sparkling water.
For alcohol version, you can add 1 ½ oz. of vodka or gin to watermelon mix. Top with a small dab of sparkling water.
CHEERS!
To avoid excess water in this drink, you can cube remaining watermelon or use a baller and freeze overnight to add instead of ice cubes.
